"While I have made numerous trips to this store in the past 1.5 years, today was the last. While the layout of the store is great and the owner has done a terrific job creating the perfect atmosphere for a bird store, the staff severely lacks what it takes to run a bird store.
Each time I go in to purchase food or toys, the scene is utterly chaotic. Today, as with many other occasions, I stood at the cash register for some 5 minutes while the lady just sat there shooting the breeze with someone else - who was not making a purchase. One, two, three other customers shortly lined up behind me. Does she make any attempt to help us? No. Once the side conversation is over and she finally realizes there’s a long line of customers, she can’t even ring up my purchase because she doesn’t know the cost of the bulk item I’ve bagged. There is no price that I saw on the bin, and their price sheet at the counter doesn’t have it. So she walks off with another employee trying to figure out what to charge me, and came back with something much higher than I expected, and higher than what I’ve paid for the same item before. Just incredible. It typically takes me longer to pay for my items than it does to pick them out and play with a few birds, and today was definitely no exception. I nearly walked out empty-handed today in frustration, as this happens every time I go in.
It is also obvious that the employees, which are almost all related, are largely untrained and uneducated in the field of birds. Inconsistent service and answers to common questions prevail here. Finding someone to help that actually a) knows what they’re talking about and b) is willing to help, is nearly impossible. On a recent trip I even heard a customer get two completely different answers to her question, by two different employees. On more than one occasion, employees have been sitting around eating their lunch on the sales floor – either at the cash register or in the trimming area. I don’t know where their priorities are, but it is very obvious that the customer is not among the list.
It is very unfortunate that this place is run so poorly. They have a great store, great product selection, and reasonable prices. They really just need to get their act together and show a little professionalism. It has been this way since the first time I visited them. As for me, I’m done with this store. It’s not worth the frustration I experience every time I go in."

Tropic Zone (formerly Chirp N' Dales') is a great place to meet your next bird family member, buy cages, food and toys for it and board it when you have to go out of town. Friendly, helpful and knowledgable people will help you make the right choices."
