"One of the most peculiar and lovely little bars in Brussels, Goupil le Fol is slightly disconcerting when you arrive, but a wonder that you find hard to leave.

Set on four or five different levels its décor is erratic, eccentric and probably a huge fire hazard.
On some floors a host of random paintings, clustered together in random sets and at contrary angles peer down at you as you burrow on musty old sofas. They’re either copies of lost masters, badly imagined nudes or unknown portraits of people from another time, creating the feel of some crazy old aunts cluttered attic.
Other floors are hung with battered and chipped old vinyl classics by musical greats, while the first floor requires the proportions of a hobbit to feel comfortable standing up in and the vision of an eagle to see anything through the gloom.
The main drink on offer at Goupil le Fol is wine, but wine of a different variety. Cheery, Strawberry even Hazelnut are all on offer served with ice and fruit. Those less adventurous can simply settle for a beer or soft drink.

All in all Goupil le Fol is a strangely magical place to lose yourself in on a Belgian evening. So snuggle up on a comfortable chair, immerse your head in a book or a conversation and wonder who on earth would actually buy that painting."
