Save Places
Saving a place on Rrove is good karma. Once you save a location, Rrove pulls related information (articles, images, events, etc.) across the web and centralizes it into a dedicated page (
example). You and others can use this page to learn more about the place.
Ready? Follow these 5 simple steps:
- Start by clicking on the blue 'Save a Place' button.
- Search for a place by name, full address or city. You can also zoom in and click a place on the map.
- Once you've selected a location, a bubble will appear. Click 'Save this Place.'
- You'll be prompted to set the borders. Adjust the box so it contains the location you want saved. You can always zoom in and out to get the proper viewing distance.
- Click 'Continue' and add useful information. Add tags, a rating and a review for your places. If you want to make a place private, make sure the Public box is unchecked.
You can always edit a place you've saved through this mode, the place's dedicated page and your 'My Places' page.
Add official information and photos
After saving a place, you can update its official information (e.g. website URL, telephone number, etc.) and link your Flickr pictures to it. There are two ways to do this:
- Through 'Save a Place': You will find a link to 'Update official information' and 'Add a Photo” inside the bubble.
- Through dedicated pages (example): Visit these pages and you will find the same two links on them.
Note: To add pictures, you must have first an existing
Flickr account and must upload the photos there. Clicking on 'Add a Photo' will prompt you to login on Flickr. After you associate a picture with a place, allow 5 minutes before it appears on Rrove.
Create & edit a set of places
Make places more interesting and organized by grouping them into sets. You can create a list of your favorite restaurants or tourist spots. Here's how:
- Start by clicking on the blue 'Manage a Set' button.
- Use the drop-down menu to create a set.
- Add the first place by name, full address or city. You can also zoom in and click a place on the map.
- Add the next places.
Tip: use 'Show Places: Mine' to add previously saved locations into a set.
To edit a set, simply select the set from the drop-down menu. Rrove will automatically show you the places associate with it, and allow you to add and remove locations. You can also add places to a set through your 'My Places' page and edit a set through 'My Sets' page.
Discover Places
Find new and interesting places saved and shared by the Rrove community. See the new sets and places that our members have saved through '
Everyone's Places'. You can narrow this list to see just the locations saved by your closest contacts through 'Friends' Places'.
Do you have something more specific? Simply search for restaurants, tourist spots, free wifi and the like using the search feature on the top of every page.
Make Friends
Make friends on Rrove and subscribing to their list of places to discover exciting locations. More than that, it's always good to make new acquaintances.
- Click 'My Friends' and search for a Rrove member through a username or email address
- You can also browse a user's profile (example) and hit the 'Add as Friend' button
